*-Mic location & other notes:
The mics were on a stand at 7-8 feet high. The first set starts with the mics around 30 feet from the stage in the "sweet spot" because we were told that we couldn't get any closer due to the crowd that was expected. By the end of the first set, we had moved the rig to about 6 feet or less from the stage (you'll hear the gradual transition, but if you really want to check the difference, play track 2 of D1 and then track 9 of D1 to hear exactly what I mean). The mics stayed there for the whole of set 2. This is a very nice recording & the close placement of the mics makes for a pretty cool stereo image (more separated than your average "sweet spot"tape IMHO), although you do lose some of the keyboard volume and the in-between song banter is muffled (we were behind the house PA speakers 5 feet or so). All credit for the existence of this recording go to Chaffe. I got the tickets (I worked at the venue) & helped in the taping process, but he & his rig made this all possible. I hope you enjoy this slab of Naw'Lins Funk.
