After having recorded their debut album 'Rue Morgue Blues' (*) in Melbourne in 1988 Hugo Race (formerly with Nick Cave and after that in The Wreckery) leaves his band behind and moves to London and later Berlin in 1989. Between November 1989 and February 1990 he and fellow Australian expat Chris Hughes record the 'Earls World' (**) album in Berlin with Alex Hacke (Neubauten and later also Die Haut), Rainer Lingk (Die Haut), Thomas Wydler (Die Haut as well as The Bad Seeds) and several other guests. By mid 1991 the band records their 3rd album 'Second Revelator' album (***) (which is produced by Mick Harvey).
These first albums had an urban blues flavor.
