NOTES:

This would be only the second time I've seen Kings of Leon, and the first full set I've watched. I caught them a few years ago at Bottlerock up in Napa, but only saw about half the set from the far back. Truth is, I've never been a huge fan but that's because I've never really dived deep into their library of songs and albums. I do remember when they played the smaller outdoor theatre at Coachella back in 07, and a couple years later they were headlining festivals...who figured?

Anyway, I do know and like their hits, so I figured that I would end the festival with them (much like I did with Mumford and Sons last year at the same festival - bands I'm not huge fans of, but can apperciate and tolerate). I could have left after Robert Plant and ran over and saw Third Eye Blind, but they were starting right when Plant ended, and I figured that by the time I got to the other stage and got a spot, they would already be on their 2nd or 3rd song, and then I'd have to run back across the field after to go back to KoL after they had started and fight the mob to get a good spot. so I decided to just ditch the Third Eye Blind idea, and just stayed and rested at the main stage while we waited for KoL to take the stage. So I chilled, talked with some neighbors and kept my pristine recording spot in front of the soundboard.

There were a few talkers here and there, but nothing as bad as I was expecting. As far as recordings go, I think this sounds really damn good. As far as sets go, I was hoping for a bit more. They only played for about 80 minutes and they didn't play "Knocked Up", which I was really hoping to hear at the end. They ended around 10:30 or so, and maybe that was the curfew, but I think they should have squeezed another song or two in. Because of that, I'd rank them #4 of the 4 headliners that weekend. Not great, not horrible...pretty solid, but nothing special. Still, they have some catchy riffs, and the recording sounds great. Enjoy.
