10. - hidden track, recorder comment -

Leonard Cohen sounded great - he has really hit his stride. The sound was great at this venue, especially in the sweet spot in front of the soundboard. If anything, things were a little too quite. Even recording on Hi gain, the result was too quite to really turn up the volume during playback and the difference between the performance and the audience's applause was significant (thus the sound processing noted above). I used a function on my Zoom known as Plug-In Power that feeds power to the mics and eliminates the need for a battery box. It worked fine, although perhaps a quality box would have provided a little more power to the mics and possibly created a louder, more dynamic recording (although testing at home with a battery box I do have did not produce any different results). I could have boosted the recording level above 100%, but everything I have read says not to and to "fix" volume issues after the fact on the PC. That is what I did. A lady a few seats down can be heard coughing periodically and you can hear my camera going off once in a while, but nothing bad. In my humble opinion, this is a solid recording.
