The London Festival Hall show is one of the highlights of Neil Young's early solo career. An excellent performance and reasonably well recorded, the show previews most of the songs that would appear later on Harvest and even features a few Buffalo Springfield classics.

The commercial silver disc version runs fast. Speed correction is problematic because the speed slows down over the course of the recording. A speed-corrected version was treed on the Rust mailing list, but it runs far too slow and doesn't take the shifting speed into account. This upload is my attempt to rectify the situation.

I started by assuming that the piano is tuned to A440. Fortunately piano songs are sprinkled throughout the set, which made it possible to confirm that the speed falls at something very close to a linear rate. Rather than matching the pitch of each song individually, I computed a linear interpolation between what I perceived as the starting pitch and ending pitch. That means the songs in between aren't absolutely precisely tuned, but they're pretty darned close, and possibly more consistent than I would have achieved purely by ear. (Software: Digidesign Sound Designer II.)

I tacked on the final song from the excellent Viglione tour compilation, also correcting the pitch slightly.

The only other processing I performed was to crossfade into the audience noise before the final song and adjust its loudness to match the rest of the show.
