Ray Charles
September 28, 1976
Liederhalle, Stuttgart, Germany

This show apparently was first uploaded by ubu and then reseeded several times by theocrite (my sincere thanks to both of them!). I got it as Torrent 204820 and found this version to suffer from a lot of DC offset which moreover varies between tracks, causing nasty clicks at the start and end of files during playback and unnecessarily reducing headroom. I corrected this (using Sound Studio) and made a few very short crossfades during the applause to compensate for the remaining unevennesses.

Ray Charles - vocals, piano
with unknown orchestra (most probably the Ray Charles Orchestra) including:
Johnny Coles - flugelhorn, solos
Clifford Solomon - tenor sax
Ernie Vantrease - piano & keyboard, musical conductor
The Rae-lettes - backing vocals

SWR 2 FM broadcast (SWR Jazz Session: Aus dem Archiv, 2005/06/16)

Original note: I missed the first 20 minutes of the broadcast due to a technical problem (not mine - no radio signal).

Lineage: FM > Minidisc > analogue to HD > GoldWave > FLAC (8)(asb)
Additional: FLAC > AIFF > corrected DC offset and retracked (Sound Studio 3.5.5) > FLAC (8) (xACT)

SWR Jazz Session: Aus dem Archiv
Ray Charles in Stuttgart
September 1976 in Stuttgart. Da sang und spielte er seine Hits wie "Georgia", "I can't stop loving you" oder "What did I say", lieferte sich aber auch ein bewegendes ZwiegesprŠch mit seinem FlŸgelhornisten Johnny Coles in "Am I blue".
70 min.
