Smashing Pumpkins (Billy Acoustic)
Machina Acoustic Demos

A good request folks, thanks.

I've done this one a few times since they surfaced, the last time I didn't do the whole thing but an edited song and sequence version for myself, since the whole thing is a bit much, and some material is stronger than others, IMO. But here's the whole thing for you all kind people who like these things.

I did the best with the material, as it was seriously heavy on 71Hz specifically, and still very boomy from 130Hz and below. A couple of songs are obviously from different sessions ("Drain" and "Lover") which are so boomy at times they distorted quite often into the mid-high range, as did "Le Deux Machina". With these I tried to really kill the noise without losing the rest of it. It's OK, certainly better than the originals.

Also it's a mono source, and I checked a few other sources I have and they all are mono. It's most likely a mono mix of the sessions, just one guitar and one vocal mic each panned straight up, as the meter's didn't act like they were unduly manipulated into mono. I of course added a slight ambient stereo effect to help enhance the recording, which it did nicely. I also fixed the glitches and flubs, and did a little tricky thing to the end of "Speed Kills" to make it fade out smoothly.

Some of these show just how wonderfully written the bare song is, like "BSBT", "Speed Kills" and my favorite "G&TGC", plus some nice un-fleshed songs such as "Here I Am" and "Lover". Very cool indeed.

note:

every flaw which is stated as "tiny" is nearly inaudible. i heard them only while really listening for them with my headphones on from the stereo, so you would most likely not hear them when listening in any other way.
