SOURCE / LINEAGE

Stereo AUD trade tape

Trade tape > Computer WAV > CDR > EAC v0.99 > TLH v2.4.1 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
Big thanks to the original taper, and to the trader (Gregg) who hooked me up with a copy.
I originally mastered this 2009-11-14.
The source was low in the left channel & I balanced it out a bit.
Besides that, all I did was place track marks before each piece.

NOTES

******************************
**** FOR COMPLETISTS ONLY ****
******************************

This show was part of the summer 1986 Ralph Records Traveling Festival.
Snakefinger headlined a bill that also included Eugene Chadbourne and Rhythm & Noise.

The venue was not noted with the tape I got.

There was a Ralph Records update flyer announcing dates & some venues for this tour.
Per that flyer, 1986-06-21 was supposed to be in Ann Arbor, MI at an unknown venue (put on by "Joe Star Presents").
I know that much of this tour was jumbled up & they didn't play all the dates announced on the flyer.
Is this really an Ann Arbor show?, or was it really moved to Indianapolis?, I dunno.
I can only go by what was on the tape, so there ya go.

Snakefinger typically named his band & would often change it up from night to night.
For this show he didn't name them onstage, but per Ralph they were "the Vestal Virgins" for this tour.

- - - -

It's stereo, but it's got limited separation & it's super-muddy.
And there's spots where the tape speed slows down briefly / resumes again.
Golden King is esp. bad; I hadta go back and make sure - it is that screwed up on the source tape.
FOR COMPLETISTS ONLY IMO.

If you can get beyond the flaws, it's a decent enough performance.
Really good version of Golden Goat here.

The unusually long fade-out was like that on the source.

Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

Filenames have numbers on the end that are the TIMES (ex. - "...-359" is 3min59sec long).
One filename has "CO" and "QM" in the name, as a colon & a question mark isn't allowed in names.
One filename has "SL" in the name, as a slash isn't allowed in names.

I mark the start of tracks when the music or count-in begins, not the talking about it before it starts.
