The Tape : BOUGHT from collector/taper around 1993 was told is WAS the MASTER. Bad thing was it was at the wrong speed and sounded muddy.
Speed adjusted RE-EQ’ED, volume boosted, tranfered to cassette and to CD-R. It was tranfered in 1995.
The show was something I thought needed the time to fix up years ago and very glad I did.
I have never seen this show on anyone’s list and thought this would be a great piece of music history for everyone to hear.

The Show:
This show is about a year before Grave Dancers Union hit the stores and Soul Asylum would play a few shows a mouth in the Midwest area.
Living in Chicago I have been able to see some of most amazing Soul Asylum shows, most of them at The Metro.
This show is ONE OF THE BEST SOUL ASYLUM SHOWS EVER. Really !!!

The show started at 9PM with the opening band. Some band out of Seattle called Pearl Jam… Yes and it was before “Ten” was even released.
As they played the place filled up really fast.. The next band The Jayhawks .
If you saw Soul Asylum in the early 90’s chances are you saw the Jayhawks. They played a lot shows together..
By the time Soul Asylum hit the stage after midnight the Metro was as filled (around 1500 is capacity) as I have ever seen it, still to this day.
They oversold it by about 250 tickets I would find out latter.
It was HOT over 100….everyone was drunk ….what follows is AMAZING.

The band and the crowd become one. Listen to “ All The Kings Friends” – “There was a time and there was a place” WOW !!
Listen to the place explode before, during and after “Sometime To Return “ and “ Cartoon” Really a great time .
Everyone singing the songs they knew, check out “Easy Street”. And yes “ Rhinestone Cowboy” is the song you think it is.

After this show you knew you saw something really special. All this for the low price of $7

THANK YOU SOUL ASYLUM and THE METRO.

If you where there you understand what I’m talking about.

Enjoy this historic show.

More Soul Asylum to come
