vg+ to ex- (almost entirely ex-)
8.5-9.0/10 IMHO as always.

Val Halla opened ; if you want it, I have it.
I was not all that impressed with this band, however...

I taped the show from the balcony, very close to stage left AND stage
right (if you're familiar with the NMB HOB). There are basically 3 options
you have when taping at this venue: balcony close to the stage, balcony
dead center from the stage (balcony is U-shaped) or the area downstairs
in front of the stage ("the pit"). All other areas sort of suck. I decided
to go with balcony stage left, as I have produced recordings from that area
that sound almost like FM broadcasts. A real sweet spot. Well, it's been a
year since the last time that I was at the HOB and certain things have been
changed, so this recording was not as good as previous ones were from that
area. I have taped from the pit in the past BUT that area is a REAL crap shoot.
Sadly, the pit gets filled quickly with tourists who see basically 1 show a year,
if that, do not know how to behave at concerts and blab non-stop to their friends
all through the show. When I got there, the pit was already packed so Uncle Jojo
said "Fuck this" and opted for the balcony. During the show, I saw a LOT of talking
and other bullshit going on in the pit so I think that my choice was the right one.
There is hardly any talking on this recording. However, the deaf asshole running the
soundboard really boosted the bass & drums over Ted's guitar and vocals !?!?!?!?!?
and with my earplugs in, all I could hear was bass and drums. Happily, the recording
came out much better than expected when I listened to it on my way home. It's a
very good recording IMHO but just not as good as ones before. So what I'm saying
in my long-winded way is that it's not my fault and I did the best that I could.
Aw-right ? Saw-right !

After about 5 songs, I very quickly crossed from balcony stage left to balcony
stage right (about 200 feet in 45 seconds) to see if the acoustics were better
on the other side. Sadly, about the same. (See if you can spot when I moved
during the show !). I removed a whoo and several loud whistles w/o losing any
music. You'll hear a talkative female asshole during one of the final songs on
CD 2 but I moved away from her until her verbal diarrhea was over. Otherwise,
there's virtually no talking around me and the people around me were fairly
well-behaved. Ted was on a roll that night and now a few words about good old
Uncle Ted and HIS behavior...

I've witnessed the Ted Nugent Experience live since 1977, I believe (I can't remember
the exact date ; maybe some Pittsburgh Ted fans can help me out). I first saw Ted at
the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA on 6/30/1977. The bill was UFO (?), the Scorpions and
Ted as the headliner. I left for the lobby during the Scorps because I thought that
they were boring (no offense to Scorp fans). Ted was crazy. I remember him swinging
onto the stage via rope & I think that he wore a loincloth. I DO clearly recall him
standing atop a bank of amps after a pretty good guitar solo and screaming "Let's
see those disco assholes do that". Hilarious. After that, I was kinda hooked and have
had a love/hate attitude towards him ever since. Love the guitar pyrotechnics and hate
the absolute bullshit that comes out of his mouth. As he gets older (he said he's 62)
he just gets worse. I'll leave it to you guys to pick out the amazing shit that he says
(wear headphones and turn it up during the rants) but here are a few samples: he's blacker
than Obama, he's a soul man, he's a fat young colored girl (or words to that effect),
he loves to kill animals, he loves attitude, God bless America, fuck everybody else,
the list goes on and on. He's really repulsive and I don't know if it's an act or
if he really believes what he says. He can't sing as well as he used to and sort of
talk/sings several ditties. It was an amazingly repulsive but riveting performance.
Judge it for yourselves...

A few final random observations...when the AGC is turned on on the Zoom, you're
virtually assured that the recording will be distortion-free. It is but I had to boost
the volume by 400% to get it to a reasonable level... Ted's spoken words during the rants
are still a little low so turn it up... The total ticket cost was $31 US. $23.50 base +
$2.50 facility charge + $5.00 handling. I got my ticket directly from the box office. Had
I gone on line thru Live Nation, it would've been $12.00 !!! more or $43.00 total !!!
Jojogunne sez BOYCOTT THOSE LIVE NATION FUCKERS.... This show marked the first time since
9/11 that I was NOT wanded (metal detector) at the door. Seems somebody is finally
coming to their senses...The sound is very good like I said above but it could've been
better thanks to the SB idiot...Ted's rants are 8:52, the length of a long song or 2
short ones. Ted ripped off the audience because he likes to hear himself talk. Thanks for
one or two less songs, you asshole...If I have the date wrong concerning the 1st time I
saw Ted, PLEASE correct me. Ted and the Scorpions were DEFINITELY on the bill. Unsure
about UFO...If you hate Ted's attitude, DON'T FLAME ME. I am NOT Ted Nugent, only a
sort of reporter. Flame the man himself...You can omit the rants and Track 20 if you wish.
You won't lose any music. Well, that's about all that I have so let's get this show on
the road...

Finally, no buy, no sell, no mp3. Please seed this as long as you can.
I will post a sample to help some of you decide whether or not to download
this, but believe me, you probably don't need one. So, as Mr. Natural is so
fond of saying, have fun, don't freak out and enjoy the concert !

jojogunne 7/4/2010 Happy Fourth of July !
