*****

first and foremost, I've been 'working on' a Tesla box set for nearly 15 years.

a TWENTY DISC box set, starting with an entire disc of the "evolution of Cumin Atcha Live" (cd 1), and then going thru their entire history (thru this year) in a rough, chronological fashion. (this includes Bar 7/Sofa King (over a dozen shows in hand), Soulmotor, etc...) has been worked on, off and on, over the years.

now, with some rudimentary Audacity skills, it's probably time to give you a taste of what's been worked on....

this collection is a RAW (just slapped together, with no EQ, the actual set will have fades/edits and mastering work done) "sampler" of what has been collected from numerous contacts over the years.

I kinda sorta worked my way in with them starting in '07, and by '09 I was allowed to audio and video numerous soundchecks and shows.

while a large portion of the set will be rarities culled from those shows, I was also blessed to meet some cool peoples along the way, and what is presented here is but a ***small slice*** of what the box-set will contain, obtained from those said peeps

an IEM of them doing Jefferson Airplane > Stones ?

and other, non released Stones songs?

an audie of "It's A Long Way To The Top" from Roseburg OR?

of course, "War Pigs"...but fucking Ted Nugent?

and Zepp? (Frank Hannon Band version)

"Not Fragile" by BTO??? (starts with click track, but it disappears about a minute in)

(some other common songs with click tracks were also thrown in)

where the fuck does this asshole come up with this stuff?

to give you an idea, there's things like live versions of "Don't De-Rock Me" (played only a handful of times), "The Gate/Invited" (played only once at a show, that I'm aware of), numerous soundcheck teases and songs, a poor-sounding but hilarious setlist of them opening for Poison in '89 in Mansfield (look it up) with 3-4 *only* time played songs, about 100 FHB shows I have to go thru, the "Wasted Space" show from '08, a soundcheck version of Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane"..... it's a ridiculous amount of material.

so, in that spirit, listed below are a FEW THINGS I'M STILL SEARCHING FOR. PLEASE SEARCH YOUR COLLECTIONS and/or REACH OUT TO OTHER TAPERS. it would be GREAT to find a few of these (rumored) gems.

1. ANY CITY KIDD...live, studio or otherwise. pre-Tesla, Sacto/Guam based.

2. the tour that Tesla did with Great White (Badlands opened) in '89. this was a pretty cool tour, in that GW and Tesla 'alternated' who headlined each night, then the 'headliner' would invite the other band members out for a 'end of show" jam song.

I have them doing "It's Only Rock & Roll" at the end of Philly (Tesla closed), and there are rumors of AC/DC ("Down Payment Blues", "Sin City") Led Zeppelin ("Babe I'm Gonna Leave You", "Rock & Roll") and Aerosmith also being played.....it is VERY IMPORTANT that you check the last song on any Great White show you may have from May-Oct '89, as while I don't need the entire GW set, any of these cover songs is basically 'unheard' as of now, other than the other one mentioned.

3. the '05 acoustic *Canadian* tour....rumor has it, as they worked their way from west to east, that "Get Back" by The Beatles, "Love Rollercoaster" (The Gap Band?) AND Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" (???) were all broken out in the acoustic fashion. I'd imagine the 1st at Brian's suggestion, the 2nd at Jeff's, and the 3rd at Tommy's, but who really knows. read in more than one interview (since lost) that these songs were played.
