SOURCE / LINEAGE

Stereo AUD 1st gen from master DAT tape (last 2 tracks mono)

Borrowed mic > Borrowed Sony DAT Recorder > DAT tape > Computer WAV > Cool Edit Pro 2000 > CDR > EAC v0.99 > FLAC 8 > DIME > you
I don't have the specific model for the mics, but the buddy from which I borrowed the gear (thanks K!) said they cost approx. US$500.
Mics were physically separate left / right channel lines which fed back to a single stereo line into the deck.
The left / right lines were either pinned over each shoulder facing stage, or pinned to left/right sides under an open-holed baseball cap.

I originally mastered this in 2001 shortly after the show, but the fileset for this was lost in a hard disk crash & the DAT tape is long gone.
This source came from the 2001 final mastered CDR set, extracted via EAC / reports included - as close to the original as is possible now.
I think the only thing I did on the computer was place track marks before each piece & fade between discs.
This FLAC fileset comes from the EAC extracts, which did not need SBE corrections.

NOTES

As this is as close to the original master as possible & isn't too bad to start with, please DON'T remaster and repost it.

I was sitting way in the back of the venue, but dead center / just ? below the mixing board.
There's some irritating mic bumping in the beginning couple of tracks, but things settle down after that for most of the show.
There was a cabling mishap at the end, which made the last 2 tracks mono; there's a quick fade-out / fade-in & more mic bumps after that.
Barring that junk, & that it's a bit echoey being in the back, it doesn't sound too bad overall & is very listenable.

I'm a bit of a newbie on DIME, but I don't believe I've seen an Icky Flix tour show out here yet.
(We're missing a Demons show too now - I think someone had DDA Atlanta up there when I first signed up / I'd love to see that reseeded.)
Given the recent Icky Flix Live DVD release (hope you got one!), I think it's time to rectify that.

I recorded this with borrowed gear, and with only a few dozen shows over a couple decades under my belt, I don't have things down to a science.
If you like this, I can upload the night before's show - I bought a ticket for the guy whose gear I borrow & let HIM do it right.
He's a pro, that was a smokin' show, and he got his usual near-perfect recording / hooked me up with a 1stGen and gave the ok to trade it out.
If you wanna hear it, leave a comment.

One thing unique about this show is the track Constantinope leading off Act 2.
Mr. Skull normally would play a sax solo at the end of the piece.
For some reason the sax wasn't out there for him at that time during this show, so he did some scatting instead.
All of the other shows I've heard from the tour (incl. the night before) had the sax solo, so I dunno why not this night.

I know I gave out copies of this to both trader friends & other Residents fans.
This is probably its first time up here on DIME, and now it's certainly as close to the source as can be.
Crank it up and ENJOY! it as I have, and share it so others can hear it.

The beginning is missing the Icky Flix (Theme) intro music played in the background & the first few notes of Reich.
The first interruption is for a break between discs 1 and 2; I retained a 2-second overlap for a fade-out / fade-in, so nothing's missing there.
And I know there's an edit somewhere just before the encore starts, but I didn't notice exactly where.
All that's missing is the intro & a bit of clapping.

Speaking of... I clap. Sorry. At least there's no talking from me.
And I leave everything in, warts and all - tuning, some of the claps before the encore & at the end.

Filenames have numbers on the end that are the TIMES (ex. - "...-359" is 3min59sec long).

I mark the start of tracks when the music or count-in begins, not the talking about it before it starts.
