NOTES: Wow! A marathon show, even for Amanda, who played more than 3 hours the last time I saw her. Anyway, she is getting ready to embark on her 18 month, "There Will Be No Intermission" tour and decided to play a warmup show as a sort of dress rehearsal at Club Helsinki. I got the email a couple of weeks ago that the tickets were available ONLY to her Patreon members. Well, Amanda at Club Helsinki is a perfect combination, for me and being a Patreon member, I scored tickets. Originally scheduled to start at 9pm, thankfully, days before the show we got an email saying that the start time had been changed to 8pm. Right after the first song, she showed us 18 pages of notes where she had outlined what she wanted to speak about between songs, so we had a feeling it would be a long night. The new album has very sad and personal songs and Amanda used the storytellers format to set up each one. While the audience was into it, several of these banter/set up stories run longer than 11 minutes, with one story clocking in at more than 24 minutes! She promises to edit the stories down as the tour goes on- so this is the rough/unedited version. Ironically, for the beginning of a tour called "There Will Be No Intermission," after 2hrs10min there was a 15 minute intermission, before the 1hr20min second set. As midnight approached, she finished the show to calls from the audience for additional songs. It was great. Will be interesting to see how this show plays out in bigger halls.
