EURYTHMICS

Wembley Stadium, London, UK
Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute
June 11th, 1988

Lineage: Live FM broadcast on SWR3 German radio - my receiver - Nak tape deck - TDK SA Type II cassette - played on a Nak -
telephone wire audio cables - emu 1212 s.c.(96Khz) - SoundForge12 (24/96Khz - downsampled to 16/44) - volume increase - CD Wave - tlh

This is likely an upgrade compared to my first share in 24/96, as emu interface confusion may have resulted in a mono output. This comes from a fresh transfer and is definitely in stereo.

03. here comes the rain again
04. you have placed a chill in my heart
05. when tomorrow comes
06. sweet dreams +
07. brand new day

+ There is a tape change during track 06., a couple of seconds are missing but it's hardly noticeable.

Thanks to good reception of SWR3's broadcast signal, here's a great sounding capture from my archive of live radio master cassettes. The live mix was 1st rate that day and all acts sound their best.
Their performance has held up well over the decades and is still very enjoyable, IMHO.

Being a poor student back then, I could only committ two tapes (a 60 & a 90) and therefore only recorded some of the artists that day (I wish I could go back and tell my 30 years younger self to stop recording albums I'd sell a few years later anyway and record concerts only and as many as possible).
This is the complete Eurythmics set.

This is the start of a now five part series, also including that day's sets by UB40, Simple Minds, Whitney Houston (3 tracks only), Stevie Wonder and Dire Straits.
