Hey y'all!
This show is one that I like for many reasons.....the main one being was it was the first Metallica show in 6 years where I didn't have to hear them do "Enter Sandman!" All kidding aside....what was not to like about these "Garage Inc" shows? A primo set list of old favorites that Metallica covered on various singles plus some new covers too! A little bummed they didn't do "Astromony" but still a killer gig!
A few side stories....I like this show because it was one of the first of many roadtrips with Dave-Jr & Motorcity Sanitarium (Dave & Paul, both who have posted shome shows here for all to enjoy) and before the show we went to a small bar down the road and had a couple of beers. Without any warning I got a case of the "raging shits" and proceeded to stink up the joint....in the process also stopping up the toilet! Thank God I didn't have to deal with it later at the Aragon. All I could think was "I plugged up a public john in Chicago.....Al Bundy would have been proud of me!"
On the way in somehow we ended up with a couple of extra passes to get into the sold out show (and there was police busting scalpers outside the door) and there was a couple of hot females (one who happened to be a model) who's b/f's bought bogus tickets on the street and wanted to get in so if I told them they would have to go in with us and then give us the $40 once they got inside, which they did (hey......i'm not for ripping somebody off but their fellers paid $100+ for worthless tickets and they wanted in bad so I let them in for face value...and their company wasn't bad either!)
Later at the aftershow I had both of them "hang" all over me as I had a pass and they did not and they got to stay at the aftershow with no actual aftershow pass!
A big nod of thanks must go to Niclas Swanlund (who at the time was helping Tony Smith with The Metallica Club...and always called me "The Kernal") for escorting up to the VIP Balcony so I could get a "clean" recording of this show as any tape from the general admission floor would have sounded shitty!

Enjoy!
