Albert Collins - Monterey Jazz Festival, 1978 09 16

December 7, 2008

Lovers of Texas Blues: this one is for you. This vintage live masterpiece is Albert Collins at Monterey Jazz Festival in 1978. Albert Collins was such a pioneer of the Texas Blues sound and had a profound influence on guitarists like Stevie Ray Vaughan (just listen to Things That I Used To Do), Billy Gibbons, Robert Cray, Kenny Wayned Shepherd, Susan Tedeschi and countless others. The Master of the Telecaster is really on fire in this set which must’ve been an amazing experience for those lucky enough to be there. Monterey Jazz Festival is one of the longest running music festivals in the US. Starting in 1958, the festival celebrated its 50th anniversary this past September and has hosted some most legendary names in blues and jazz music. This show is a true gem and I hope you enjoy it!
