This is the very first show with the new line-up, under some less than ideal circumstances.
Chris woke up on this day in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, having spent the past several days instructing at a "Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp" of sorts. From there he needed to catch flights to Indianapolis, where his new bandmates would pick him up at the airport on the way to their first gig together. It is quite common for Chris to play a gig with a new drummer having had very little rehearsal. But normally, there would be a soundcheck(extended if possible) to work out things that the new guy is uncertain of. Well, at an outdoor Blues festival like this, there is no chance for that quick run through. So this was trial by fire, so to speak.
Amazing how they pulled it off. A few mis-cues here and there, but nothing that the casual observer would probably notice. By the end of the night almost the entire audience had moved past the chain-link barriers to get close to the stage as they closed with a Sonic version of Sun Prairie Blues. A very heavy, surreal, Jimi-ish ending in the middle of a city park in nowheresville Indiana at 10.45 pm!
